Expectations for Web Site Assignment

Dr. David R. Burgess
Rivier College

The assignment for CS102 site development can be done individually or in groups of not more than three. The following expectations are for the site and not for each individual page. At least the homepage of these sites will be placed in a sub-directory created by you in the ic directory. The username and password will be given in class. You can create the pages in your own directories and then copy them to the appropriate ic sub-directory, or you can create them directly in your sub-directory in ic. A link from the Class Developed Homepage (home.html in the ic directory) will also be established.

The minimum expectations for sites are:

  1. A homepage that clearly establishes a theme for the site. This page should, as a minimum, include:
    • A title for bookmarking.
    • At least two frames.
    • Links to at least three other pages at this site.
    • The characteristics of a good page as discussed in class.
    • Correct use of HTML code.
  2. At least three pages other than the homepage that are consistent with the theme established on the homepage. Each of these pages will be evaluated in terms of the characteristics of a good page as discussed in class and correct use of HTML code.
  3. Links to pages outside of the college.
  4. A list.
  5. A table.
  6. At least one page with a background image.
  7. At least one picture other than a background.

The overall site will also be looked at in terms of the criteria for a good site discussed in class.
