E-Mail on the Internet

To use e-mail at Rivier College:
Logon to the server. When the desktop appears choose the Netscape Communcator
or the Internet Explorer browser. Type
http://www.rivier.edu/email_logon.htm
and press Enter. This will get you to the web logon page that uses Microsoft
Outlook. Follow the directions on that page to get to your email account.
You could sign up with HotMail or some
other e-mail service if you would like a different interface.
E-mail is probably the most widely used internet service. It allows people to
"instantaneously" send and receive written communication. Groups of people can
talk at each person's convenience. The recipient doesn't need to be home and,
since it is written, there is a lower chance of misunderstanding.
We will use it extensively in our class to facilitate learning and interaction
among students.
